Ex libris, or bookplates, began as a way to mark ownership of books during a time when even a single volume represented significant wealth. Pasted onto a cover or endpaper, they carried the owner's name or personal emblem, turning the book into something clearly, personally theirs.

TOUCH & FLOW brought that tradition into collaboration with Yuko Kurihara, a Japanese painter who spent her formative years across Singapore, Chiba, and the United States before completing a Master's degree in Japanese Painting at the University of Tsukuba. After 15 years in graphic design, Kurihara returned to fine art, and her work carries that dual fluency: the meticulous layering of Japanese painting alongside a compositional clarity shaped by design practice.

Her illustrations here are printed with gold leaf, adding a tactile shimmer that references the historical prestige of the bookplate format. The sticker backing is a deliberate update: these aren't just for books. They work on notebooks, cases, or anywhere a small, considered mark feels right.
