Behind the Design

Lokta paper has been made in Nepal for over a thousand years, produced from the bark of the lokta shrub that grows in the Himalayan forests. Because each sheet is formed by hand, no two pieces are identical in texture or tone, which means every calendar in this series is a one-of-a-kind object.

The Yoga Cat calendar layers that handcraft tradition with an unexpected theme: cats photographed or illustrated in postures that mirror classical yoga asanas, each labeled with the Sanskrit name of the pose.
