Behind the Design

Okaka is a character from the Chaikhana brand, and this calendar gives the character a three-dimensional presence on your desk by shaping the entire calendar into Okaka's face.

The paper used is lokta, a traditional Nepali handmade paper made from the bark of the Daphne plant. Lokta has been produced in Nepal for over a thousand years and is known for its fibrous texture and durability. Because each sheet is made by hand, no two calendars are identical, and small differences in color and form are part of the material rather than a defect.

A small loop at the top means the calendar can be pinned or hung when desk space is needed elsewhere, switching between two modes without any additional hardware.

A desk calendar shaped like Okaka's face, made from handmade Nepali lokta paper by local artisans. It stands on its own or hangs on a wall, and the surface is writable so you can jot notes directly on each month.
