Behind the Design

The Sky Field Guide series from BGM takes atmospheric sky scenes as its subject and renders them on washi tape using double foil stamping, a process where two separate foil layers are applied to the printed surface. Each layer catches light independently, so the tape shifts in appearance depending on the angle. The "Dusk" colourway focuses on the transition from daylight to night, with the warm tones of evening sky gradients printed beneath the foil finish.

Released in July 2024, the series continues BGM's approach of treating tape as a small canvas, where nature photography and printing craft meet in a format you can tear by hand.
