The uni-ball ZENTO was built around a single question: what does it feel like to begin writing? The name ZENTO (前途) means "the road ahead" in Japanese, and the pen's design ritualizes the act of picking up a pen and putting it to paper.

At the center of the design is a newly developed ZENTO ink formulation, a water-based ballpoint ink engineered to lay down color with less resistance than conventional oil-based ballpoint ink. The result is a softer, more fluid stroke that sits closer to the feel of a rollerball without the bleed risk.

The rotating retractable mechanism adds a tactile dimension: pulling the magnetic cap free with a click is intentional, a brief pause before writing begins. Posting the cap in reverse on the barrel isn't just a storage solution; it shifts the pen's weight distribution and extends the grip length to the position where the hand naturally rests. The three ink colors (black, red, blue) are accessed by rotating the barrel, keeping the silhouette clean and clip-free in its Signature Model form.
