Behind the Design

Lokta paper has been produced in Nepal for over a thousand years, made from the bark of the Daphne plant that grows in Himalayan forests. Because the bark regenerates after harvesting, the material is considered sustainable. The Chaikhana series from Amina Collection Co., Ltd. uses this paper as a base for calendars that center on the lunar cycle, letting the natural texture of the material echo the organic rhythm the calendar is meant to track.

Each calendar is assembled by hand by Nepali artisans, which means the bamboo elements and paper surfaces carry small irregularities from person to person. The 2027 edition displays moon phases across the year so you can follow the waxing and waning at a glance without cross-referencing a separate reference.

A 2027 wall calendar built around the lunar cycle, printed on handmade lokta paper from Nepal. Each copy is shaped and toned slightly differently by the artisan who made it, so no two are exactly alike.
