Behind the Design

The Star Grimoire series takes the grimoire, a historical book of magic spells and incantations, as its central motif. Each of the three designs interprets a different facet of that mystical world: Blue (蒼) evokes cold, arcane depths; Spirit (霊) conjures otherworldly presence; and Light (光) captures the glow of enchantment breaking through darkness.

Foil stamping is applied directly to washi paper, which is an unusual pairing. Washi has a soft, fibrous texture that absorbs light rather than reflecting it, so the foil elements stand out in sharp contrast, appearing to float on the tape surface. The result is a design that shifts as it catches light at different angles.
