Behind the Design

The Wakearishitajiki ("divided writing board") was designed for students who want to structure their notebook pages into equal columns or sections without measuring. A stepped edge on the front face acts as a positional guide: align the step to the edge of your notebook, and the boundary between the transparent and opaque zones projects through the paper as a faint line, showing exactly where to draw.

The bicolor material serves a second purpose. Because one half is opaque, you can slide the mat under a page to hide vocabulary, formulas, or answers for self-testing, much like a colored overlay used in language study. Flip it over and the flat back behaves like any standard desk mat, protecting the page underneath from pen indentations. Two configurations are available: 2-Split divides the page into halves, while 4-Split divides it into quarters.

A B5 desk mat with a stepped edge that lets you draw equal dividing lines across a notebook page without a ruler. The two-tone design (transparent and opaque) doubles as a memorization cover, and the flat back works as a standard writing board.
