Behind the Design

Most snap-off cutter knives use carbon steel blades in a plastic or aluminum body. Carbon steel is hard and sharp, but it oxidizes quickly when exposed to water. OLFA's 8B Silver addresses this by building both the body and the blade from stainless steel: the body from stainless steel stock, the blade from high-carbon stainless steel that holds an edge while remaining corrosion-resistant.

The result is a cutter that can handle work in damp environments without the rust spots that would appear on a conventional knife after similar exposure. The slim profile keeps it easy to maneuver for precise cuts through thin paper, wallpaper, and film. Replacement blades use the standard small OLFA format, so sourcing spares is straightforward.

Note: as of July 2025, the version that included two replacement blades has been discontinued. The current version ships with the blade pre-installed in the handle.

A slim, snap-off cutter knife made entirely of stainless steel, body and blade alike. Unlike standard cutter knives, it resists rust in wet or humid conditions, making it a practical choice for kitchen work, craft spaces, or anywhere moisture is a factor.
