The traditional Japanese calendar system doesn't just divide the year into four seasons. It breaks it into 24 solar terms, and then further into 72 micro-seasons called Shichijūnikō, each lasting about five days. Each of these periods has a name that describes a small, specific change in nature: the first cry of frogs, the arrival of cold dew, or the moment bush warblers begin to sing.

This desk calendar was made in collaboration with Koyomi Seikatsu, a Japanese platform dedicated to daily life through the lens of the traditional almanac. Every page carries a "Seasonal Word" (季節の言の葉), a short explanatory text grounding each micro-season in everyday meaning. A printed QR code connects readers to longer seasonal columns on the Koyomi Seikatsu website, turning the calendar into a starting point for deeper exploration.
