Behind the Design

Illustrator Aya Inoue is known for intricate linework that draws on the visual language of traditional Japanese woodblock printing. This collaboration with Furukawashiko translates that aesthetic into a sweets-themed postcard series, each design centered on a classic Western dessert rendered in fine, deliberate lines.

The retro color palette is achieved using fluorescent inks, which push the saturation beyond what standard printing allows. The result sits somewhere between vintage illustration and contemporary art print. Each postcard is sold in sets of five, sized at the standard postcard format of 106 x 157mm.

A collaboration with illustrator Aya Inoue, these postcards feature delicate sweet illustrations printed in a retro woodblock-inspired style. Fluorescent ink gives the coloring a vivid, almost glowing quality that photographs don't quite capture.
