Behind the Design

HONTOWATASHI (roughly: "books and me") is Furukawashiko's series dedicated to book lovers. The Reading Time Set pairs a paperback book cover with a coordinating bookmark, both printed with the same illustrated motif so they read as a complete set rather than two separate accessories.

The designs draw on a sweet-shop theme: names like French Bread, Candy, Green Cream Soda, Strawberry Parfait, and Melon Cream Bread each correspond to an illustration that gives each variant its own distinct mood. The book cover is cut to fit standard paperbacks at 212 × 351mm when open, and the bookmark at 135 × 72mm is wide enough to display the design clearly without being bulky inside the spine. Because the set comes flat and the book cover wraps around a book on its own, it also functions as a way to wrap a book before giving it as a gift.

A paperback-sized book cover and matching bookmark sold together as a set, both sharing the same illustrated design from Furukawashiko's HONTOWATASHI line. The designs are named after sweet treats and drinks, bringing a little cafe-menu charm to a reading session.
