The Radar launched more than 50 years ago and has remained largely unchanged because the core design already solved the main problems of everyday erasers. The blue sleeve is not just branding: its rounded corners distribute grip pressure away from the eraser's edges, which is where cracking and crumbling typically start. The compound itself is tuned for a mild, low-resistance feel while still achieving a 97% erasing rate, meaning it lifts graphite cleanly without tearing paper or leaving heavy smear. The phthalate ester-free formulation reflects an update to the original recipe that keeps the eraser compliant with modern material safety standards without changing the familiar writing feel.
