Standard refillable tape glues face a design trade-off: the cartridge mechanism requires extra internal space, so the body grows. Tombow's engineers set out to eliminate that compromise for the Pit Air Mini Refill Type, redesigning the internals so the cartridge-compatible body stays the same dimensions as a non-refillable compact model.

The core of the redesign is the Air Touch System, a proprietary tension mechanism that keeps pulling resistance low regardless of how much tape remains on the roll. Conventional tape glues get heavier to pull as the roll depletes and resistance increases; the Air Touch System compensates for that shift, so the feel at the end of a 10m roll is effectively the same as at the start.

The mechanism also operates quietly, a deliberate choice for users in libraries, study rooms, and shared offices where the snap and tear of adhesive tape is an unwelcome sound. The result is a refillable, low-waste tape glue that doesn't ask you to trade size, ease, or noise for the ability to swap cartridges.
