Behind the Design

The Pieni Stitch series takes its name from the Finnish word for "small," a nod to the miniature, intricate world of embroidery stitches that inspired it. Rather than printing flat illustrations, BGM used foil stamping to give each design a subtle raised quality, catching light in a way that flat ink cannot.

Two of the six designs, Small Café and Small Room, are arranged as repeating scene-based patterns that reward being cut apart and used individually as collage elements. The other four, Small Forest, Small Wildflowers, Small Sea, and Small Party, work well as continuous background strips for planner pages or gift wrapping.

Six washi tape designs printed with foil stamping to mimic the texture and depth of embroidery on paper. "Pieni" means "small" in Finnish, and the name fits: each design keeps things delicate and pattern-forward, working well as a background strip or cut apart for collage.
