Behind the Design

Furukawashiko is based in Mino City, Gifu Prefecture, one of Japan's most storied papermaking regions. This letter set draws on that heritage by using Mino washi as its base material, bringing a handmade-feeling texture to a mass-produced stationery item.

The design collaboration with valo adds an illustrated layer of everyday warmth: toast, jam, pastries, and morning table scenes rendered in the illustrator's signature soft palette. The result is a letter set that doesn't feel generic. Pink and Yellow colorways tie the envelope and writing sheet together into a coherent set, so the recipient gets a coordinated experience from the outside in.

A collaboration letter set between Furukawashiko and illustrator valo, whose work features charming breakfast and sweets motifs. The paper uses Mino washi, a traditional Japanese paper known for its soft texture, giving everyday letters a tactile warmth that regular paper doesn't have.
