Lokta paper has been made in Nepal for over a thousand years, produced from the bark of the Daphne shrub that grows in the Himalayan foothills. The fiber is hand-poured into sheets, giving each page a texture that no machine-made paper can replicate.

The Chaikhana series pairs this traditional material with dense, jewel-toned illustration work. The central motif here is an elephant stepping through a field of flowers and birds, a subject that carries deep resonance across South and Central Asian visual traditions. Glitter paint is applied by hand over the illustration, adding a layer of shimmer that shifts with the light.

Because every calendar is made individually by craftspeople, the color balance and exact outline of each piece vary slightly. The product tag included with each calendar documents this handmade origin.
