Behind the Design

The "Nyapanese Art NEKO" series from BGM takes its name from a mashup of "nyan" (the Japanese onomatopoeia for a cat's meow) and "Japanese," which sums up the concept neatly: classic Japanese painting aesthetics, swapped out for cats as the central subject.

Each of the 15 designs draws from the visual language of traditional Japanese art, think flat color fields, bold outlines, and motifs like waves, florals, and geometric patterns, then places cats into the composition as the main character. The foil stamping adds a layer of iridescent shimmer that references the gold-leaf detailing common in historical Japanese screen painting and woodblock prints.

Released in May 2025, this pack arrives as part of BGM's ongoing stationery line focused on collectable decorative stickers. The individual packaging keeps all 45 stickers flat and protected until use.

Forty-five foil-stamped flake stickers across 15 designs, each one pairing traditional Japanese art motifs with cats illustrated in a ukiyo-e-influenced style. The foil accents catch light on washi-textured paper, giving each sticker a shimmer that flat printing can't replicate.
