Behind the Design

Mark sheet exams place specific demands on pencil lead: the graphite has to fill bubbles darkly enough for optical scanners to read reliably, yet lift off cleanly when you need to correct an answer. Standard pencils can smear or leave ghost marks; erasers that aren't formulated for graphite can smudge rather than lift.

Tombow developed this set around lead milled to an ultra-fine grain, which produces a dense, consistent mark while keeping the graphite particles small enough that a plastic eraser can remove them without tearing the paper surface. Pairing the pencils with the MONO PE-03A eraser (one of Tombow's most tested eraser formulations) and a mini sharpener means the set addresses the full cycle of exam writing in one package. The clear PP pouch keeps everything together and visible at a glance, whether stored in a bag between exam sessions or laid out on a desk.
