Mino Washi is one of Japan's oldest papermaking traditions, originating in Gifu Prefecture and designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Its characteristic texture comes from long kozo (mulberry) fibers, which give the paper a softness and subtle translucency that machine-made papers can't replicate.

Furukawashiko draws on that heritage for these pochi bags, small envelope-style pouches used in Japan to give money or small gifts without the formality of a full noshi envelope. Each design pairs the maneki-neko motif with a specific wish, so the envelope itself carries meaning beyond its contents. The six wishes cover the most common hopes for the new year: fortune, success in competition, general luck, academic achievement, good personal connections, and dedication to study. The 2027 Year of the Sheep edition continues Furukawashiko's annual tradition of limited new year stationery items tied to the zodiac cycle.
