The Shifuku no Hitotoki series from Furukawashiko draws on Mino Washi, a papermaking tradition from Gifu Prefecture with over 1,300 years of history. Mino Washi is known for its soft, fibrous texture and subtle translucency, qualities that give it a warmth that machine-made paper cannot replicate.

For these envelopes, Furukawashiko applied gold foil stamping over four traditional Japanese geometric patterns: Shippo (interlocking circles symbolizing harmony), Kikko (tortoiseshell hexagons associated with longevity), Asanoha (hemp leaf lattice, a symbol of growth), and Seigaiha (overlapping wave scales representing good fortune). The foil catches light against the matte washi ground in a way that reads as restrained rather than ornate.

An opacity-blocking inner paper is included in each pack, a practical consideration for envelopes meant to hold cash or small gifts. The result is an envelope that functions as intended while reflecting the kind of care that makes giving feel considered.
