Behind the Design

Furukawashiko collaborated with artist Aya Inoue to produce this mini letter set as part of a sweets-themed collection. Inoue's illustration style is known for fine, precise linework, and the four designs here, each depicting a classic Western dessert, carry that same careful detail at a small scale.

The paper itself is Mino Washi, a traditional Japanese handmade paper from Gifu Prefecture with a long production history. Its slightly textured surface takes ink well and gives each sheet a tactile quality that mass-produced paper doesn't replicate. At 90 x 125mm, the sheets sit comfortably between a memo slip and a short letter, making the set genuinely dual-purpose rather than just decoratively labeled as such.

A 30-sheet mini letter set made from Mino Washi paper, illustrated by artist Aya Inoue with delicate sweets motifs: Victoria cake, parfait, sundae, and trifle. Small enough to use as everyday memo paper, detailed enough to send as a proper note.
