Chiyogami is a style of Japanese decorative paper printed with repeating patterns, historically used for paper dolls, origami, and craft work. The Mingei series takes its name from the mingei movement, a 20th-century Japanese folk art tradition that celebrated the beauty found in everyday handmade objects.

Furukawashiko prints these designs onto Mino washi, a paper with roots in Gifu Prefecture dating back over 1,300 years. Mino washi is known for its soft texture and fine fiber structure, which gives it a pleasant hand feel and makes it receptive to detailed pattern printing.
