Chigirie is a Japanese paper art form where torn pieces are layered to build up images and color. Miki Tamura, a Kansai-based artist who has shown this technique through solo exhibitions and hands-on workshops, translated that approach into a masking tape format: instead of tearing paper, you tear or cut tape and stack the strips.

The six colorways in each set are selected so the translucent washi layers interact when overlapped, producing deeper or shifted tones that a single pass cannot achieve. The acrylic-based adhesive is repositionable and leaves no residue, which keeps the process forgiving. Mistakes peel off cleanly, and the tapes are safe on painted walls, so wall-mounted compositions in rental apartments are a practical use case rather than a workaround.

Three themed palettes, Trip, Nostalgia, and Utsuroi (meaning transition or shift), each offer a distinct color mood while sharing the same layering logic.
