Behind the Design

KOKUYO ME is a sub-line built around personal expression, positioned within KOKUYO's broader stationery range as a more style-conscious offering. This mechanical pencil takes the 0.7mm lead diameter as its central design decision: thicker than the standard 0.5mm that dominates the market, it breaks less easily and produces a stroke that feels closer to writing with a wooden pencil.

The grip is one of the more considered details. Rather than a uniform shape, it transitions from hexagonal at the tip, where you want control and resistance to rolling, to a rounder profile higher up the barrel, where the hand can relax. The metal clip and metal tip add rigidity at both ends, while keeping the overall form slim enough that the line of writing stays visible as you work.

A 0.7mm mechanical pencil from the KOKUYO ME series, designed around the idea that thicker lead writes more like a traditional wooden pencil. The hexagonal rubber grip shifts between a firm hex hold at the tip and a rounder, more relaxed shape toward the back.
