The MD Notebook Diary grew out of the same philosophy behind the MD Notebook: let the paper and the writing experience lead, and keep everything else minimal. MD Paper was developed to give fountain pen users a surface that handles ink cleanly, with no bleed-through and a satisfying resistance underhand. That same paper is the foundation here.

The structure is intentionally flexible. A monthly block gives a calendar overview, while the 8-section horizontal ruled pages serve double duty: use them as standalone memo space, or treat them as a week-per-spread diary running through the full year. The unruled pages are left completely open, sized so that a spread reads as a single canvas for sketches, freeform notes, or anything that doesn't fit a line.

Thread-sewn binding means the book opens fully flat without coaxing, which matters when you're writing across a wide spread or tracing a margin-to-margin sketch. The cover design carries over the MD Notebook's restrained aesthetic, cream-toned and typeset simply, so the diary doesn't announce itself.
