Behind the Design

Mat cutting requires a very specific blade geometry. A standard 90-degree cut leaves a flat edge; a 45-degree bevel exposes the white core of the matboard, creating the stepped border seen in professional picture framing. OLFA's XB45 is ground specifically for that bevel cut, designed to glide through matboard cleanly without tearing the surface paper.

The blade is double-sided, meaning once one edge dulls, the blade can be flipped and used again before disposal. The SKS-7 steel composition holds a sharp edge through repeated passes, which matters when cutting the full perimeter of a window opening in one continuous motion.

Replacement blades for the OLFA Mat Cutter 45-Degree (45B) and Easy Mat Cutter 45-Degree (197B), used to cut beveled windows in matboard for picture framing. Each blade is double-sided, so both edges can be used before replacing. Comes in a pack of 5.
