Behind the Design

The Mysterious Journey series from BGM centers on a simple narrative: a girl and her companions moving through illustrated scenes together. Released in July 2024, the two designs capture small moments from that story. Hide-and-Seek places the characters mid-game among patterned surroundings, while Friends frames a quieter scene of togetherness.

Foil stamping on washi tape is a production choice that requires precise registration, as the metallic layer must align with the printed illustration underneath. BGM uses the technique to highlight specific elements rather than cover the full surface, keeping the tape usable for journaling and paper crafts where too much reflective surface would compete with handwriting.
