Behind the Design

Kamoi Kakoshi, the Okayama-based manufacturer behind the mt masking tape brand, has a long history of collaborating with artists to bring original artwork onto washi tape. This series pairs that tradition with the stamp-cut aesthetic of Maruichikyuu, a rubber stamp artist whose work centers on botanical and nature motifs rendered in bold, graphic lines.

The four designs in this Spring/Summer 2025 release each take a seasonal flower as its subject: osmanthus, camellia, lavender, and sunflower. The stamp-art style translates naturally to tape, where the clean outlines and limited color palette read well at 15mm width. This line is licensed for domestic Japan sales only.

A washi masking tape collaboration with rubber stamp artist Maruichikyuu, featuring four botanical-inspired designs. Each roll is 15mm wide and 5 meters long, printed on traditional washi paper that tears cleanly and leaves no residue.
