Behind the Design

Furukawashiko's Sweet Animal Workshop series takes the concept of animals disguised as sweets and applies it to seasonal stationery. For the 2027 Year of the Sheep, the lineup centers on sheep, seals, and dogs dressed as cream soda, pudding, cupcakes, and shortcake.

The two envelope formats reflect different gift-giving contexts in Japan. Pochi bags are small, informal envelopes used for casual cash gifts; noshi bags carry a more ceremonial presentation tied to traditional Japanese gift customs. Offering both formats under the same design series lets the illustrations work across a range of occasions, from otoshidama for children to small expressions of appreciation between adults.

These limited-edition New Year gift envelopes feature animals dressed up as desserts: sheep as cream soda, seals as pudding, dogs as shortcake. Part of Furukawashiko's Sweet Animal Workshop series, they come as either pochi bags (small, casual envelopes, 3 per pack) or noshi bags (formal gift envelopes, 2 per pack), timed for the 2027 Year of the Sheep.
