Mino Washi is a handmade Japanese paper with over 1,300 years of history, produced in the Mino region of Gifu Prefecture and designated a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Its defining quality is a soft, warm surface that feels noticeably different from machine-made paper: slightly textured, with a gentle translucency.

Furukawashiko produces these otoshidama envelopes specifically sized so that a folded or flat bill fits without any secondary crease. The 2027 series marks the Year of the Sheep with nine distinct designs ranging from the warm, rounded "Hokkori" illustration style (a recurring motif across Furukawashiko's seasonal lines) to geometric ichimatsu checks, auspicious daruma figures, and a full Seven Lucky Gods composition. The White Bird Hokkori design carries over from prior years as a perennial favorite, while the remaining eight designs are new for 2027.
