Pochi bukuro are small envelopes used in Japan to give coins or small amounts of cash as gifts, most commonly during New Year (otoshidama) but also for everyday tokens of appreciation. The name comes from the Japanese word for "a little bit," reflecting their modest, understated role in gift-giving culture.

Furukawashiko produces these envelopes annually as a limited seasonal item, using Mino Washi, a paper with over 1,300 years of history originating in Gifu Prefecture. Mino Washi is known for its soft, slightly textured surface and subtle translucency, qualities that give these envelopes a warmth that mass-produced paper simply does not have.

The 2027 designs celebrate the Year of the Sheep across fifteen different motifs, ranging from traditional ichimatsu (checkerboard) patterns and shimenawa rope imagery to the playful "hokkori" (cozy) sheep characters that Furukawashiko has become known for in their seasonal lines. Four designs from prior years (plum water-knot, cozy cat, white bird cozy, beckoning cat) round out the collection for those who want motifs not tied to the zodiac year.
