Behind the Design

In Japan, zodiac-themed stationery released at year-end is a well-established tradition, tied to the custom of sending nengajo (New Year's postcards) and wrapping gifts for the season. Furukawashiko produces these mini masking stickers annually, each set keyed to the coming zodiac year.

The 2027 edition marks the Year of the Sheep with three design directions: Mt. Fuji for a classic Japanese motif, Flowers for a softer decorative feel, and Hanko (Stamp) for a playful nod to traditional ink stamps. The washi-based masking material is chosen specifically because it takes printed designs well while remaining repositionable, making it useful on envelopes and paper goods where a permanent adhesive would cause damage.

Small washi-material stickers made for the 2027 Year of the Sheep, released as a limited year-end item. The removable masking material means they peel off cleanly, so they work on postcards, gift envelopes, and paper surfaces without tearing. Three zodiac-themed designs in mini size.
