The MA117-FT Knock Pencil started as a product conceived for overseas markets, where the hexagonal barrel shape mirrors the familiar feel of a wooden pencil. That geometry is not decorative: six flat sides resist rolling off desks and give the fingers a natural resting edge during long writing sessions.

The FriSha mechanism adds a second way to advance lead. A standard knock at the top feeds lead in the conventional way, but a quick downward shake triggers an internal weight that pushes lead forward automatically. The idea is that switching between writing and advancing lead becomes seamless, without repositioning the hand. The retractable eraser sits flush at the top to keep the silhouette clean. The clear tinted barrels let the internal mechanism show through, which became part of the appeal when the pencil landed in the Japanese student market.
