Pochi-bukuro are the small envelopes used in Japan to give otoshidama, the New Year's monetary gift traditionally given to children. Furukawashiko's Kiritori series takes this familiar format and gives it a twist: the outer envelope is printed to resemble a recognizable Japanese snack package, while the inner paper carries the same design to prevent the contents from showing through.

The "kiritori" (tear-off) opening mechanism is the core of the concept. Rather than a standard envelope flap, the recipient tears a perforated strip along the edge, just like opening a bag of chips or a candy packet. The result is a small, layered moment of play built into an otherwise ordinary transaction. The 2027 designs are tied to the Year of the Sheep and feature five beloved Japanese snack brands, each sold separately.
