The Floatune was built around a single tactile goal: reducing the friction of oil-based ballpoint writing to the point where the pen almost feels like it is floating across the page. A specialized ink cushion system works alongside a smooth ink flow mechanism to absorb the resistance that normally makes ballpoint pens feel scratchy, producing a gliding sensation uncommon in oil-based pens.

This set is the second limited Floatune release, and its theme is "the sky and the passage of time." The body designs trace the sky across the full arc of a day, each pen capturing a distinct moment: twilight, a comet-lit night, and open clear sky. The Comet Star colorway is exclusive to this set and does not appear in any single-pen release.

The concept behind the design is quiet encouragement. The way glancing up at the sky mid-afternoon can briefly reset a busy mind is what Pentel wanted this pen to evoke. The packaging carries a glossy finish with a rounded silhouette, and the back panel is perforated so it can be cut out and used as a bookmark after unboxing.
