Kazuko Furuta was born in Tokyo in 1985 and relocated to Yamagata to study nihonga (Japanese painting) at Tohoku University of Art and Design. She has lived and worked at the foot of Nishi-Zao ever since, participating in land-rooted art projects such as Hijiorinohikari in Oguni, Yamagata, and Tsuchimatsuri in Mashiko, Tochigi. In 2017 she received the 5th Setagaya Arts Award "Hisho." Her practice honors traditional nihonga techniques while building a visual world entirely her own.

The CWP (Creative Works Print) project begins with the idea that a fine-art reproduction can have its own distinct character rather than simply mimicking the original. For this collaboration with TOUCH & FLOW, Furuta's source material is the quiet activity of animals and plants on the land: the rustle of a favorite mimosa tree that makes wind visible, and the jubilant awakening of Yamagata spring after a winter that feels like total extinction.

Printing on Curious Metal, a pearl-finished paper, was a deliberate choice to translate the soft sheen of fur and the gentle luminosity of Furuta's brushwork into a reproducible format. Unlike other works in the CWP series, these two posters forgo the raised transparent resin coat, letting the paper's own surface carry the texture. Each print is framed in teak wood with an acrylic panel, numbered, signed, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
