Drawing a circle with a traditional compass requires holding the arm at the right angle, pressing the needle firmly, and rotating without letting the pencil slip. For young students still building fine motor control, that sequence often ends in a wobbly oval and a frustrated eraser.

Sonic's answer is the Deru Kuru Head, a patented mechanism at the top of the compass that changes how you set the radius. Instead of adjusting a hinge and tightening a small screw, you simply pinch the head and spin it until you reach the size you want. The arm locks there automatically. A large thumb screw secures the pencil without the usual fiddling, and the head's 360-degree rotation lets the compass spin smoothly around the needle pivot.

The silicone case wraps around both the needle tip and the pencil lead, so the compass can go into a pencil case without puncturing anything. A secondary transparent hard cover over the needle adds a second layer of protection.
