Behind the Design

KOKUYO ME is a sub-line built around the idea that functional stationery does not have to default to neutral. Each release picks up on color directions from fashion and interiors, then applies them to Kokuyo's established product formats without changing the underlying specs.

This grid notebook uses the line's soft ring binding, which sits flush when the notebook is closed and flexes back when open. The four colors in this release draw from outdoor sports environments: a low-saturation red referencing a running track, a pale warm sand, a muted green named for a tennis surface, and a soft blue taken from a pool. The palette mixes pastel and vivid tones to read as energetic without being loud.
