Behind the Design

KOKOYOMU comes from Furukawashiko's HONTOWATASHI series, a line aimed at people who love books and reading. The name roughly translates to "reading here," and the concept is straightforward: a narrow horizontal window in the bookmark lets exactly one line of text show through at a time, nudging your eyes to stay on track rather than jumping ahead or drifting.

The idea addresses something many readers quietly struggle with: losing your place mid-paragraph, or reading the same line twice without noticing. By framing a single line, the bookmark gives the eye a natural anchor without covering text or requiring any adjustment.

Each design features a small animal illustration positioned to look as though the character is peering at the same line you're reading. The lineup includes a white cat, black cat, fluffy dog, Shiba Inu, seal, bear, white small bird, and an alien, keeping the object lighthearted without undermining its function.

KOKOYOMU is a PET bookmark with a single-line window cut through it, designed to isolate one line of text at a time as you read. A small animal illustration peeks out from the edge, as if reading along with you.
