Cutting a single clipping from a newspaper or magazine sounds simple until you realise that a standard cutter blade cuts through every sheet beneath it. The Kirinook was designed specifically to solve that problem. A spring mechanism inside the body regulates how much downward force actually reaches the blade, so the cut depth stays consistent no matter how heavy-handed the user is.

The key engineering decision is the stepless pressure adjuster on the back of the body. Rather than fixed settings, it lets you tune blade engagement across a continuous range, from the light touch needed for thin newsprint to the firmer contact required for glossy magazine pages. The body is also shaped to guide cleanly along a ruler up to 3mm thick, so straight cuts are straightforward. Two spare blades are stored in a case built into the rear of the body, keeping replacements close without a separate packet to lose.
