Behind the Design

Jim Mart is a KING JIM stationery series that takes the visual language of Japanese convenience stores and turns it into desk goods. The onigiri clip is one of its most literal interpretations: a rigid resin case molded to look like a triangular rice ball, complete with the pull-open tear strip that mimics the three-step seaweed wrapper every convenience store onigiri has.

Inside the case are two paper clips for pinning documents or memos. The case itself is durable enough to keep on your desk afterward as a small holder for clips, erasers, or other pocket-sized items. Four "flavors" are available, each with its own color and filling label, so the series has a collectible dimension built in from the start.

A paper clip set packaged inside a resin onigiri case that opens exactly like a real convenience store rice ball, tear strip and all. Two clips per onigiri, in four filling flavors to collect. The case is sturdy enough to reuse as a small desk organizer once the clips are out.
