OLFA's Hyper Series was built around one question: what does a cutter need to feel like when the work gets genuinely hard? The answer was the X Design, a grip geometry developed specifically to prevent slipping and direct hand force cleanly into the cut. The double injection molded rubber over a glass fiber reinforced polypropylene body gives the 212B a solidity that distinguishes it from standard large-format cutters.

The 25mm H-type blade, with its reduced warping tolerance and alloy tool steel construction, is the other half of that equation. Where a conventional large blade flexes under lateral pressure, the H-type stays true, which matters when you are cutting through flooring material or drywall in a single controlled stroke. The auto-lock mechanism adds a one-touch retention point so the blade stays exactly where you set it without a secondary manual step. At 185mm long and nearly 50mm wide, the body sits comfortably in larger hands without requiring a tighter grip to compensate for movement.
