The Hyper Series came out of a straightforward question: what does a cutter knife feel like when it fits the hand exactly right? OLFA's answer was the X Design, a grip geometry shaped to the natural lines of a closed fist so the blade tracks where you intend it without requiring a corrective squeeze.

The body is glass fiber reinforced polypropylene rather than standard resin, which keeps it light while resisting the flex that causes imprecise cuts. The double injection molded rubber grip sits over that frame, adding friction at the points where hands actually exert pressure.

The rear claw is a small detail that changes the object from a single-purpose cutting tool into something more useful on a workbench or in a warehouse. Opening corrugated boxes and prying paint can lids without hunting for a separate tool is the kind of small efficiency that makes a hand tool worth reaching for.

The Gray variant ships with OLFA's black blade as standard. The black blade is ground at a sharper angle than the standard blade and uses a two-stage polish that keeps the acute edge from chipping under load. The standard Yellow model won a Good Design Award, recognition that good function and considered form can occupy the same object.
