OLFA's Hyper Series starts from a single question: what does a cutter feel like when you actually need to push through something? The standard grip is round and smooth, which works until you apply real force, and then it rotates or slips. The X Design addresses this by shaping the grip so that pressure from your fingers and palm is directed straight into the cut, not lost to rotation.

The rubber is applied via double-injection molding, meaning the elastomer is bonded directly to the polypropylene body rather than slipped over it as a sleeve. This keeps the grip geometry precise and prevents the rubber from shifting during use. Glass fiber in the polypropylene adds stiffness to the body without adding bulk, keeping the knife compact. The auto-lock mechanism holds the blade at whatever extension you set, releasing with a single motion when you need to snap or swap a segment.
