Behind the Design

Most household scissors have smooth blades that work fine on paper but skate across film, vinyl, PP bands, and similar slick surfaces. OLFA's 112B addresses this with a serrated (giza) edge ground into the stainless steel blade. The serrations act as micro-grips, biting into the material before the cut begins so the blade doesn't shift or slip.

The stainless steel construction extends to the pivot rivet, which is SUS430 steel with a brass and nickel-plated core. ABS resin handles keep the weight down while the larger-than-standard blade length gives enough leverage for tougher jobs like cutting nylon cord, leather, or thick plant stems. The result is a scissors that handles the full range of household cutting without specializing in just one material.
