Behind the Design

The HONTOWATASHI series ("honto" meaning "book" in this context, "watashi" meaning "me") is designed for people who take their reading seriously. The clear book marker was added to the line as a natural evolution: a bookmark that doesn't interrupt the reading experience visually, since the transparent PET lets you see the page through the marker itself.

The dimensions, 125mm tall and 40mm wide, were chosen to sit comfortably in standard paperback formats without protruding too far or slipping inside. The lightweight PET construction leaves minimal pressure marks on pages. Each design features a printed pattern on the clear body, so the illustration sits over the text rather than blocking it, creating a layered effect unique to transparent materials.

A clear PET bookmark from Furukawashiko's HONTOWATASHI series, sized specifically for paperback books at 125x40mm. The transparent body keeps the page text visible underneath, and each design comes with a bookmark string in a calm, coordinating color tone.
