Behind the Design

The hibino series takes its name from the Japanese word for "daily" (日々), and the format is built around that premise: every day gets its own two-page spread rather than being compressed into a grid square or a half-page slot.

The left page is structured around a full 24-hour time axis, running from midnight through to the following midnight, with space for weather and moon phase icons at the top. The right page is intentionally unstructured, with only a 2.5mm dot grid to suggest division without imposing it. The two-page rhythm lets each day function as both a scheduler and a journal on the same opening.

MIDORI specified thread-sewn binding so the book opens completely flat at any page. Thin planner paper keeps 768 pages from becoming unwieldy at 27mm thick. The PVC cover uses an embossed soft-leather texture with gold foil stamping, and the diary is available with optional engraving for personalisation.

A full two-page spread for every single day: the left page carries a 24-hour time axis, weather icons, and moon phase markers, while the right page uses dot guides so you can divide the space however you like. Thread-sewn binding means the book lies flat without a fight, and 768 pages of thin planner paper keep it from ballooning in your bag.
