Hello Nature began as Tombow's attempt to connect everyday school stationery to environmental awareness. The barrel wood is sourced exclusively from forests certified under internationally recognized standards, and the series carries Eco Mark certification and Green Purchasing Law compliance for the standard packs.

Rather than generic decorative prints, each design pairs a gentle illustration on the barrel with a vivid photo of a real parent-and-child animal pair on the dozen box. The animal information printed on the back of that box was reviewed and supervised by the National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo, grounding the series in factual natural history rather than pure decoration.

The hexagonal barrel follows the established school-pencil convention that helps young writers find and maintain a correct three-finger grip. A dedicated name-writing space on the barrel addresses the practical reality of school life, where pencils routinely need to be identified among dozens of identical ones in a classroom.
