Behind the Design

The Kin-un Calendar (金運カレンダー, or "fortune calendar") draws on a long-standing Japanese folk belief that yellow objects placed on the west side of a room attract financial luck. West is associated with money in Japanese feng shui, and yellow is its paired color.

Shin Nihon Calendar translated this belief into an everyday desk object: a large-format desktop calendar in a warm golden yellow. The L size gives it presence on a desk without overwhelming it, and the metal fittings hold the pages in a clean upright position through the year. It is a functional calendar first, with the fortune-charm angle built quietly into the color and placement recommendation rather than printed loudly across every page.
